A to Z Challenge

A to Z Challenge is something I am excited to take part in. The idea behind it is to list everyday a subject beginning with the letters of the alphabet. I thought long and hard but decided that as an avid quilter I would see if there were quilt blocks from each letter. Well surprise surprise there was. If you are interested you can find out how to do each block on the internet. Or I may post tutorials on each one after the even ends so not to bore those not interested. If you have time I would love to know you would like me to do that. Have a fun month all those taking part. We are off! My first block starting with the letter A is:-

Osmond's Live

Osmond's Live wow the event was on Saturday and I had so much fun!
We arrived early and sat in the car for a bit. We were parked near the stage door. Loads of women were lined up waiting for the Osmond's to arrive. We decided not to wait as it was rather chilly and went on inside to find our seats.
The whole place was so busy and even if the average age was 50+ everyone was up for fun.
I had gone with my daughter Natalie who has been to Osmond's concert with me before. She is great fun to take to anything like this, she is always full of energy and we laugh a great deal.

We found our seats which were really close to the front centre stage, so an excellent view.
The mix of ages was great and there were older people as will as young. It struck me how great that so many generations can enjoy the Osmond's music.

The show was wonderful full of a mix of old and new songs. Everyone was up dancing and enjoying the fun.It did have a touch of sadness as Alan was unable to come due to his MS and Wayne had a stroke just before leaving to come over to the UK. I have heard that both are doing well, which is great.

All to soon it was over! The last time I will see The Osmond's on stage which is very sad. I do wish them well and hope they get to relax. Thanks for all the memories and fun and hope you can kick back now, and smell the flowers.

How safe are our children?

How safe are our children? This I think is something that every parent worries about at some time.
No matter how young or old they are , their safety is always in your mind.

Today in the UK the newspapers and television carried a tragic story. A little girl skipping around a store, happy as anything! Seconds later she was sunned down, and paralysed for life.
Rival gangs had run into the store, and she got mixed up in the chaos and was shot.

Crime such as this is not something thankfully, that we hear a huge amount in the UK. However, this story reminds us all that it is just around any corner.

The strange thing was I had a conversation just a few days earlier with my own son.
He is in the computer industry and we had a long talk about when he has a family, and how he will worry about how safe they are.

When he was younger I didn't have to worry so much as we did not have Internet. He did not even get a mobile until he was 15. Can you imagine telling a 15 yr old today that they couldn't get a mobile lol
I did worry about my children like any other parent but I think that's true what ever age they are.

I told him that you have to put certain limits in place, and hope that is enough to keep them safe. You protect them but cant wrap them up in cotton wool. I am lucky as both my children were sensible and so I trusted them.
As an older parent I am not sure I could give a  young parent advice. I think everyone is different and you should trust the limits you set.
You never stop worrying even when they are grown up. My mother always said, that no matter how old I was I would always be her baby. That is so true!

Say NO to chocolate contest

Say NO to chocolate Contest is something I am bringing to my blog today. Those of you that read my blog will know I am fighting a long battle with weight. I was given a chance to work with Thinking slimmer and try out their slimpods. Its been a long battle for me but I have been doing well recently, listening to my slimpods whenever I can. So far I have lost 14 pounds since Christmas and also moving more even with my limited mobility. So give it a go and enter the contest, you may win and if not buy one its working for me! Say NO to chocolate!

THE run up to Easter is such a hard time for anyone who finds chocolate impossible to resist because the shops are full of Easter eggs and boxes of chocolates.

Imagine how great it would be to be able to say No to chocolate and break the bad eating habit that’s so hard to control.

Help’s here! I’ve teamed up with Harley Street weight loss specialists Thinking Slimmer to offer you the chance to win a free Chocoholic Cure Slimpod.

A Slimpod is a special recording you listen to for 10 minutes before you go to bed each night and while you sleep it gently retunes your mind to have a new relationship to food and healthy eating.

Slimpod users have reported remarkable results. Chocolate addict Lauren Goodchild, 24, from Plymouth, says: “I was spending at least £5 a day on chocolate and finding it impossible to lose any of the weight I’d put on during pregnancy.

“After about 10 days of listening to the Chocoholic Cure I realised I hadn’t eaten any chocolate for a couple of days.

“I’d had a bag of my favourite M&Ms in my bedroom that had been there untouched for over 24 hours. That was unheard of.

“I’m finding my eating habits are changing dramatically and I no longer spend my days grazing on crisp, biscuits and all the other yummy goodies in the cupboards.

“Now I reach for an apple or a glass of water. I can’t believe how I’ve stopped my craving for chocolate almost overnight.”

Harley Street cognitive hypnotherapist Sandra Roycroft-Davis, founder of Thinking Slimmer, says:  “For some people the problem starts in childhood with parents using chocolate as a reward - or even a bribe - for good behaviour.

“For others, eating chocolate is a habit that has formed in adulthood and has become so ingrained that they feel willpower alone is not enough for them to be able to say No.

“Finally we’ve found a way to help them that does not require willpower.”

To enter this free competition answer this simple question:

How long does a Slimpod take each evening?

Slimpods cost £29.99 and are available as MP3 downloads or on CD. You can find out more and read case histories at www.thinkingslimmer.com

We love the Osmonds!!!!

We love the Osmonds is what I will be shouting this weekend. I am so excited to be going to a concert on saturday to see the brothers for the last time.
I first was aware of the brothers when I was ten. I was a mad David Cassidy fan and my friend gave me a picture of this group. She went on and on about how cute they were and that they was called The Osmonds. So this picture was squeezed in between my David ones and then slowly slowly David was eased out and they took over.

I was hooked and spent hours playing their records and dreaming of being Mrs Osmond.
I even stood outside their hotel all day just to get a little sight of them, but I was so upset my mum would not let me stay over night!

Over the years I have been to many concerts and I guess as we all got older we all slowed down. I think that it is amazing that after all this time they are still performing and the fans still having fun.
I was lucky enough last time they were in the Uk to see them, and get a cuddle which was fab.
So this Saturday I am going to see them again, and it will be the last time as its their final concert tour.
Its sad but they have given us fans so much pleasure over the years.
So I will be there and I my 53 year old voice will be shouting "We love the Osmonds" for one last time.

Woman in Black

Woman in Black is the movie I thought I would chat about, this is for my new Friday Film thingy lol
I don't think I see enough movies so I thought this would be a fun thing to do.
So my first one as I said is Woman in Black, which has recently arrived in our towns!

I was aware of the play in London but never got up there to see it. London is a fab place but so busy and I find the pace of life too fast for me.
So when I heard the movie was being made I was so excited, I am a huge fan of ghost stories and I also think that Daniel Radcliffe it great.

I hoped in this movie he could move past the Harry Potter shadow, and I was not disappointed at all.
The movie was beautifully shot in soft tones it was very moody from the start.
Daniel's character is asked as part of his job to settle the affairs of an old lady who had passed away. So leaving behind the sadness of losing his wife, he gets care for his son and sets of.
He finds himself in a very remote village and the welcome is not very good. In fact most do there hard to get him to leave.
He is strong in his need to stay as he knows his job depends of getting things sorted.
He arrives at a very very creepy old house and the story then unfolds. I am not going into detail as I would not want to spoil the plot for you!

I really enjoyed it and for me it was a good old fashioned ghost story which is something I love.
It was not a long movie so no numb bottoms lol. It was beautiful a atmospheric. An excellent cast with a brilliant performances from all,
Daniel Radcliffe was great and not once did I see Harry Potter.
All in all Woman in Black really was a good movie and I would love to know what you thought of it.
Have a great Friday xx

Diet and Life

Diet and  is a subject I think we all think about more than a few times in our life. I have had a weight problem for most of my life in fact about 50 years. OMG how many days, weeks and months have I worried about my size. I should have lived a little and not thought about it that much.

I have been slim but even then I was not happy. I think my body image idea was not what I was seeing at all. When I got married I see now I was tiny but even on that day I felt fat.

I put on weight with both my children but after my youngest I found it much harder to shift the weight.
It was not until the early 90's that once again I did loss lots of weight and I was delighted. It was short lived as I damaged my back and all my fitness stopped and all the weight piled on again.

Now as I come up to my 54 birthday I am saying " stop". Yes I will eat healthy and yes I will try so hard to increase my mobility but I have to stop kicking myself when I slip up.
I will carry on listening to my great Thinking slimmer slimpod which helps me to relax and not focus so much on the scales. Its hard to let go of 50 years of a habit but I am trying ! I am not perfect by any means. I make mistakes like lots of people and some I wish I had avoided but its done and gone so I must move on.

We all should remember life is so short! One second you have years in front and then it starts slipping away.
So wish me luck with my new life of positive thinking. Be kind to yourself and live your life today now, do the things you want and do not let anything hold you back.
